ITV’s crime drama, Van der Valk, returned to our screens last week with the opening episode of its third season, and on Sunday evening (June 25) fans can look forward to the second installment.

The detective drama follows cynical detective Piet Van der Valk as he and his team solve crimes in and around Amsterdam, with the third season focusing on three new murder cases.

Actor Marc Warren portrays the lead role who roams the Dutch capital solving mysterious crimes using clever human observation. The television star has been in the limelight for decades as he enjoys a glittering acting career, so let’s take a glimpse at the man who has brought Van Der Valk perfectly to life.

Born in Northampton in 1967, Marc is now 56 years old. He found his passion for performing arts at a young age making his stage debut at the age of 19 when he appeared at The Northampton Theatre Royal in Stags and Hens.

Marc has been active in the industry since 1986, having won awards such as a Royal Television Society for his role in ITV’s Oliver Twist.

He joined the National Youth Theatre and went on to appear in various stage productions before landing his first major film role in the 1992 BBC film, An Ungentlemanly Act.
